International Ballet Festival of Miami Miami Gardens Theatre reviews
Foreigner Rocked The Rose! But...
I've been to three International Ballet Festival of Miami concerts now, with the most recent at The Rose, and have never really been disappointed. The lineup variations I've seen include Lou & Mick, Dennis, and Rick + extras, or Agent Provocateur with the same lineup and the huge church choir, or Kelly and Mick and Tom & Jeff & Co. on tour since 2005. They've still got the chops to play the hits, and the fact that Mick Jones showed up about a third of the way through was an excellent surprise when he didn't show up on stage at the beginning. Anyone who's a International Ballet Festival of Miami fan is aware of Mick's imminent departure in the near future. But...they were selling a greatest hits compilation of only 11 songs [the CD's were for charity, as was 10% of my autographed album] and that's all they played in a 90 minute set on this eve. No "Say You Will" - no "That Was Yesterday" - no "I Don't Want to Live Without You" - no "Starrider." Thus the four stars...I get wanting drum solos and keyboard solos and guitar solos as part of the evening - they are all very talented musicians! But I guess I just wanted more - heck, they didn't even play anything off the "Can't Slow Down" album, which had a few minor hits and featured most of this configuration. Worth going - absolutely! Just need more of the catalog that's all. I'd go again in a heartbeat! Nothing otherwise wrong with the show, they still rock, the music and vocals are still great, and it is still extremely entertaining.
